OATMEAL COOKIES

Oatmeal Cookies

1 1/4 c. butter or margarine (I prefer butter flavored Crisco)
3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. nutmeg
3 c. oatmeal

Preheat oven to 375. In large bowl, beat margarine and sugars. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add combined flour, baking soda,cinnamon and nutmeg:mix well. Add oats; mix well.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. (IF you have to grease your cookie sheets they will spread out.)
Bake for 8 - 9 for chewy cookies and 10 - 11 minutes for crisp cookies.

If you want Butterscotch cookies just add a bag of them when you add your oatmeal.
