ETHEL'S SUGAR COOKIES

pic by Amy....I decorated these cookies at Thanksgiving with my dear Niece Savannah!!   Hers are the more creative and colorful cookies, mine are the acorn tops!!  They tasted yummy though!

Ethel's Sugar Cookies (This is from a very dear friend in Parker, CO---not Ethel---no idea who she is!)---she makes the BEST cookies!!

3/4 c of butter or margarine (i use blue bonnet, don't use "light" it doesn't work)
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1/ tsp vanilla
2 1/2 c of sifted flour (if flour is presifted it is ok)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Mix butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt then add gradually to sugar mixture
Chill dough until it is firm.
Roll out with plenty of flour
Bake 5-8 minutes at 400 degrees until edges of cookies are slightly browned.

The icing I use is just powdered sugar and milk.
